Why is there no Windows 9? What happened to Windows 9? It’s a mystery that haunts Windows 10 to this day, but Microsoft has an answer. Kind of.
During Microsoft’s Build developer conference last week, several Microsoft employees, including Joe Belfiore, were seen wearing a special blue T-shirt complete with the Windows logo in binary code. Hidden inside the four sections of the Windows logo were secret messages to the crowd of 5,000 attendees. Developer Kévin Gosse decoded the binary 1’s and 0’s to reveal each message:
- There are 10 types of people in the world.
- Windows 10, because 7 8 9.
- Congrats on being one of the first.
- Windows Insiders help us develop the future. Talk to us @ Windows.
This isn't the first time Microsoft has used a T-shirt to joke about the lack of Windows 9. Back at Mobile World Congress the software giant handed out free T-shirts to developers with a Windows timeline. Windows 9 was scrubbed out.
The mystery continues.
