The X-Files is coming back in January, and production for Fox's six-episode "event series" has officially begun. Stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have been tweeting out teases from the set in recent days, and today we're getting our first look at Mulder and Scully since we last saw them nearly seven years ago in X-Files: I Want To Believe, the second full-length movie inspired by the hit series. Let's just say a lot has changed.

Duchovny basically looks like he wandered straight off the Californication set. And Gillian Anderson portrays a strikingly different Scully — even after dying her hair back to the character's signature red. We'll be doing our best to steer clear of script leaks and major spoilers in the weeks and months ahead, but this first shot of the Mulder / Scully reunion was too good to pass up. If you're somehow not familiar with The X-Files, you can stream the whole thing on Netflix and Hulu; both streaming services offer the series in HD, a big upgrade over its original run on Fox. For comparison, here's a still of the duo during the show's later seasons.
