Some lucky fans of the Terminator franchise can expect to be pulled further into the film universe when Terminator Genisys debuts next month. Paramount announced today that select AMC IMAX theaters across the country will feature a new interactive game that viewers will be able to play on their smartphones right before the movie begins.

The first in-theater video game of its kind

The game, based on the recently released Terminator Genisys: Revolution mobile game, is the first in-theater game of its kind, and will effectively encourage people to actually turn on their phones in the theater instead of turning them off. Audience members will be assigned to four different teams, and, using their phones, will aim and shoot Terminator robots on the movie screen. The game lasts only three minutes, and the winning team will go home with a special edition poster for the film.

Here are the participating theaters in the US:

  • AMC Lincoln Square IMAX 13 in New York City
  • AMC Universal CityWalk 19 with IMAX in Los Angeles
  • AMC Metreon IMAX 16 in San Francisco
  • AMC Boston Commons IMAX 19
  • AMC Northpark IMAX 15 in Dallas

The game is available on iOS and Android. Terminator Genisys will hit theaters on July 1st.
