Earlier this week, the internet thrilled to the sight of astronauts onboard the International Space Station chomping on red romaine lettuce — the first time people have eaten food actually grown in space. The experiment was a success, with astronaut Scott Kelly noting that the produce tasted like arugula, and NASA has now released footage of the whole event in 4K. The video strikes a different note to the usual footage of rocket launches and space walks, but in the right context, it's just as notable. Growing food in space is necessary for any long-duration mission, and this week's experiment — although it might just be a salad — actually paves the way for further exploration of our Universe.
