Article Discussion: Here is the badass truck replacing the US military's aging Humvees

Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) to replace HMMWV

The author notes that the venerable HMMWV or "Humvee" was so popular that a civilian version, the Hummer, was sold, in three incarnations. The author also states that the replacement, the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, looks so imposing that it is unlikely to ever be civilian street legal. However, after reviewing the photos, it looks a lot like a Hummer, just with a more angled windshield and a longer front end. Strip off the armor and turret, enclose the back end, and give it a shinier coat of paint, and I could see this rolling down the highway.

What do you think of this vehicle replacing the Humvee? Is it a worthy successor? Is there some feature/capability that you think it should have? Do you think that the JLVT could see a civilian version?
