Sony announces PS4 price drop in Japan

At the Tokyo Game Show today, Sony announced that it plans to cut the cost of the PlayStation 4 in Japan from ¥39,980 to ¥34,980. The new price converts to around $292 or €258, making the PS4 significantly cheaper in its home country than in the US and Europe. The console will be available at the new price from October 1st in Japan, and although there's no hint about similar cuts in other regions, we're fast approaching the two year anniversary of the console's US release date, so at least we can hope. Other news from Sony's conference includes the rebranding of Project Morpheus as PlayStation VR, and the upcoming release of a first expansion pack for Bloodborne, one of the console's best exclusive titles.
