Serial is moving to a biweekly schedule

Serial, the weekly podcast that recently began airing its second season, will be moving to a biweekly schedule.

Tomorrow's episode postponed one week

This season, which premiered last month, has focused on the case of Bowe Bergdahl, the Army sergeant who left his post in Afghanistan under unusual circumstances. Serial producer Julie Snyder told The New York Times that the biweekly schedule became necessary after more people came forward to talk, opening up "more avenues of reporting."

"This story goes in so many directions, and as we're reporting it we're getting access to more of the key people close to Bergdahl's case, and to more information than we initially thought we would," host Sarah Koenig wrote in a note on the Serial website announcing the change.

The next episode of the season, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been pushed back to January 21st, with a new episode to follow every two weeks after. This season had been set to run for about eight to 10 episodes, according to the Times, but Koenig writes that at least one more episode will now be necessary. "To do that — or at least to do it right — will take some time," Koenig wrote. "Hence the change."
