Apple believes it has resolved a bug with its Safari browser on both OS X and iPhone that caused the web browser to crash for users around the world this morning. The issue, triggered when Mac and iPhone / iPad owners attempted to search within the address bar, lasted for several hours. According to BuzzFeed News, "only people whose Safari suggestions data storage updated during early AM hours" were affected.
Though that makes the problem sound rather small, there were still plenty of complaints directed at Apple across Twitter. It's rare for Apple's oft-reliable browser to fall victim to such a bug. Developer Steven Troughton-Smith, who was monitoring the issue, seems to confirm that it's been fixed, though it may take some time before everyone is freed of the problem.
I'm guessing the Safari problem has been addressed - a fresh DNS reset now leaves it working for me. YMMV?
