Overwatch celebrates the holidays with Winter Wonderland event, Christmas costumes

New, 4 comments

Blizzard announced the latest seasonal event for Overwatch that adds holiday-themed unlockable items to the online team-based shooter for a limited time. The event runs from December 13th through January 2nd, and offers a variety of festive player icons, emotes, highlight intros, voice lines, and most importantly, character skins.

Additionally, the Hanamura and King’s Row maps have been given a temporary winter makeover, along with a new Snowball Offensive brawl that will two team teams of six Meis each duking it out with special snowball attacks.

Like in Overwatch’s previous Halloween and Olympics events, the new items are only obtainable for the duration of the seasonal update. They can be unlocked through Winter Loot Boxes, which are earned in the same manner as regular Loot Boxes: either by leveling up in-game, or purchasing them with real money. Each Loot Box contains randomized items, but Winter Loot Boxes guarantee at least one winter event item in each box.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get to work on unlocking this amazing Zenyatta Nutcracker skin.
