The Lens

It's time to talk about the weekly critique thread...

Hey guys. I've been thinking about some things in regards to the critique thread and want to get your thoughts on them.

I've been involved with the critique threads since January 2012. It's been a solid 5 years of this and I've loved seeing not only myself get better with some of the suggestions and thoughts I've read here but have seen others also perfect their craft. And that's the whole point of this, seeing each other get better at a hobby or job we love.

But I've seen a pretty significant drop off in photogs coming to the thread, posting photos and interacting in the post lately. There's always been a downturn in visitors/sharers during the holidays which is understandable, but this year its different. We now average 55 comments a weekly thread, since the beginning of August. That's well down from the 120+ we were averaging last year and the year before that.

So my thought is this: go back to monthly critique threads starting January 1, 2017. A change to our "rules" would be you could post a new photo every week, I would just bump the thread at the start of the week and we could post again. I hope this would boost interactions, as that's my goal with this thread.

If you could, please vote in the poll. And if you have ideas on how to either drive interactions or suggestions on how to do the critique threads, please comment below. I would love to see this thread keep going for another 5 years.
