Watch Dogs 2 will be out by next year

A sequel to Ubisoft's open-world hacking game Watch Dogs is on the way. During the company's most recent earnings call, it announced that Watch Dogs 2 was in development and expected to launch sometime during its next fiscal year, which runs between April 2016 and March 2017. The franchise made its debut with the original game in May 2014. There are no details on the game itself, nor what platforms it will be available on. The news comes as Ubisoft also announced that it was taking a break from Assassin's Creed, with no major new game in the series launching this year, in an attempt to make the series "a premier open-world franchise" once again. Even if Watch Dogs misses 2016, though, the French publisher still has a handful of blockbuster titles slated for this year, including open-world shooter The Division and Far Cry Primal later this month.
