It's billed as the "blood relative" to Cloverfield, but 10 Cloverfield Lane looks like it's taking a different path to J.J. Abrams' found-footage monster movie, jettisoning the original's shakycam action for tense horror movie aesthetics. A new trailerfor Dan Trachtenberg's upcoming movie shows Mary Elizabeth Winstead trapped in John Goodman's converted bomb shelter, supposedly to shield her from what's roaming around outside. But who's the real monster? The man who kidnapped her, chained her to a bed, and won't let her leave? Or the Godzilla-a-like stomping around a destroyed America just upstairs?

Probably the second one, to be fair, but it doesn't look like Winstead wants to stick around to find out, as she sends messages to the outside world for help and makes her attempt to escape. As with the original Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane has hidden its monster well so far — we could be getting the same skyscraper-sized kaiju as in the first movie, or something else that's mutated, evolved, or just risen from somewhere else in the depths. Or maybe everything's fine outside now, and John Goodman is just really good at doing monster impersonations? We'll find out very soon, when 10 Cloverfield Lane arrives in theaters on March 11th.
