The Silver Snakes, Blue Barracudas, and Green Monkeys are coming back to television. Nickelodeon is reviving the '90s game show staple Legends of the Hidden Temple in the form of a fictional TV movie, Variety reports. Legends of the Hidden Temple, which ran from 1996 to 2004, pitted teams against each other in battles of wit and brawn, which were sometimes narrated by a giant talking head named Olmec. The movie will feature three siblings trying to overcome similar challenges, but this time, it's life or death.
Nickelodeon has recently been banking on a resurgence of nostalgia for its popular '90s shows to amp up its current viewership. The network is also working on a TV movie based on the channel's beloved football-headed preteen Hey Arnold, and working with Paramount to make a feature film starring characters from Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, and The Angry Beavers.
The Legends of the Hidden Temple movie is set to premiere later this year.
