Jeep stuffed a 707-horsepower engine in a Wrangler, just for fun

Every year, Jeep enthusiasts gather in Moab, Utah for Easter Jeep Safari, a weeklong celebration of the iconic SUV, off-roading, and the gorgeous Utah desert. This year is the 50th edition of the event, and Jeep — the company — is bringing along some special concept Jeeps to show off.

I'll be shocked if any of these make it into production, but we suspect the Jeep reps out in Utah will have plenty of pleas to bring them to fruition.

Especially the Trailcat. That thing is crazy. Jeep borrowed the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine — which makes 707-horsepower — from Dodge and stuffed it into a Jeep Wrangler. It took sport seats from a Viper, and added 39.5-inch BFGoodrich off-road tires and massive axles and shocks. It looks like it could climb anything and, if rumors are to be believed, could foreshadow a Hellcat-equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee somewhere down the line.

Then there's my favorite, the Jeep Crew Chief 715. It's meant to honor the Jeep's historic military service, with a fabric-top, stretched, four-door-plus-pickup design. It looks absolutely incredible, and includes a giant, yacht-style compass in the dash — because why not?

The Jeep Shortcut is an even shorter version of the ranger, based on the old Jeep CJ-5. It's 12 inches shorter than the regular Wrangler, with amazing red plaid seats and a red ball shifter handle to match. It's phenomenal.

There are even more, but just scroll through the photos below to see the amazingness, and maybe plan a trip out to Moab later this month to see them in person.
