Back in October, August took the wraps off of its second generation Smart Lock, which features HomeKit support, a few design changes, and a slightly cheaper price. The Smart Lock was supposed to be available to purchase before the end of 2015, but the release was delayed, until today.
With the new August Smart Lock, iOS users can ask Siri to lock, unlock, or check the status of their door. It also features a new magnetic faceplate and a chrome indicator at the top of the lock to identify if your door is locked or unlocked. You can purchase the new August Smart Lock for $229 — down from the $249 price tag for the original model — from Amazon, August.com, and in Best Buy stores now.
