SoundCloud Go has arrived in the UK. Reuters reports this evening that SoundCloud's new subscription music service has made its first expansion, arriving in Britain for £9.99 per month and in Ireland for €9.99 per month. This follows a debut in the US, for $9.99 per month, at the end of March.
You'll find more music on SoundCloud, but more hits everywhere else
The delay was likely a matter of finishing up streaming deals so that SoundCloud has the rights to play popular music. When it launched in the US, SoundCloud's catalog of paid music was notably smaller than competing services like Spotify; it sounds like the situation hasn't changed in the UK.
That means SoundCloud Go may remain a solid option for existing SoundCloud devotees who have been asking for offline playback. But for anyone looking for easy access to all of their favorite music, SoundCloud Go probably still isn't it.
It's not stated where SoundCloud plans to expand Go to next. The company tells Reuters that it's planning to be in "multiple territories this year," but that a full global expansion will take "a couple of years."
