I think I've finally found something to replace Mailbox (Mac)

23

I was extremely disappointed when Dropbox closed down Mailbox, and ever since I've been trying to find good replacements. Today I'm a step closer, although it's not quite as nice as having the same app on both my iPhone and Macbook.

On iOS I've been using Spark for quite a while now, and I have to say that not only has it replaced Mailbox on my phone but it actually surpasses Mailbox in many ways, I really enjoy using it.

Finding a replacement on my Macbook however has been much harder. I tried the Polymail beta for a while and had high hopes, but I found it to be a bit messy, extremely buggy, and constantly needing (slow) resyncs and other annoying quirks (I know it's a beta and I shouldn't expect it to be perfect but it really was poor, even for an unfinished product).

Today though I downloaded Canary, having seen it featured on Product Hunt a few days ago. Although it's still in beta it's surprisingly polished. It's fast, has some great features such as email tracking (which I liked about Polymail), a fairly nice UI, good/fast search, etc. The standout feature perhaps is that it doesn't sync your emails to a third-party server, everything is stored on your device.

When Spark eventually release their planned Mac app I might make the switch. But for now, I've finally found something that replaces Mailbox on my laptop. If you're still looking for a Mailbox replacement, I'd recommend giving it a shot.
