I was recently browsing and I got to thinking, why is The Verge so damn slow?

Like seriously, even with AdBlock on this site loads like it has a Zimmer frame, so what gives?

I'm sure that you guys have a good amount of developers, and there is certainly a ton of web technology out there, so in my opinion there aren't too many excuses you could make, I would suggest ajax loading more content, making sure critical CSS and images are loaded first and reducing the amount of scripts.

Maybe even finally switch to HTTPS and use HTTP/2 and Service Worker?
