First Click: Code Conference, Computex, Civil War II, and more in the week ahead

After a relatively slow week in tech we’re in for a biggie this week with two massive events: Computex and Vox Media’s Code Conference.

Computex has already shifted into high gear with Sam Byford in Taipei covering the action live all week long. Asus kicked things off early with a MacBook killer and a trio of nice looking phones as part of its “Zenvolution” event. It’s the biggest week of the year for Taiwanese tech with plenty of phones, chips, PCs for VR gaming, and lots and lots of gadgets to come.

Tuesday marks the start of Recode’s three day Code Conference. This year’s list is one of the biggest and most prestigious ever in Code’s 14 years. Tune in to watch Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher grill a list of tech dignitaries that includes Elon Musk of SpaceX and Tesla Motors; Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon; Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google; Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter and Square; Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook; Ginni Roomette, CEO of IBM; and Bill and Melinda Gates. The interviews are unscripted so anything goes, and usually does.

Wednesday marks the release of the Civil War II comic book series, the followup to 2006’s Civil War. Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez are the creatives behind it and the pair currently behind Invincible Iron Man.

You can also expect to see reviews of Flume’s sophomore album Skin, Gold Panda’s Good Luck and Do Your Best, and Lone’s Levitate.

Tegan and Sara's new album Love You to Death is slated for release on Friday, June 3rd. The lead singles "Boyfriend" and "U-Turn" premiered in early April.

Friday’s also the premiere of film festival darling The Fits. The drama paints a psychological portrait of an 11-year-old tomboy seeking acceptance.
