Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley is now set to star in a new take on Shakespeare's Hamlet. Variety reports that she's in final negotiations to play the title role in Ophelia, which shifts the focus from the Prince of Denmark to the noblewoman who loved him.

Ophelia won't be a tragic figure in this film

Ophelia is based on the YA novel of the same name by Lisa Klein, and positions the character as an outspoken woman fully involved with Hamlet, rather than a tragic figure who succumbs to madness. Naomi Watts is currently in negotiations to play Queen Gertrude, Hamlet's mother, and Claire McCarthy is attached to direct.

Ridley is certainly filling up her slate for the next few years. In addition to her work in Episodes VIII and IX, she recently teamed back up with J.J. Abrams for his upcoming "mystical romance" movie, Kolma.
