It's nearly impossible to imagine Raiders of the Lost Ark without its galloping theme, and thankfully it looks like composer John Williams will be along for the ride when Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford return to the franchise. Talking to Access Hollywood's Scott Mantz before an American Film Institute event celebrating the composer, Spielberg confirmed that Williams would score the upcoming Indiana Jones film, which is currently scheduled to be released in 2019. Williams, of course, has written the music for the entire Raiders series and nearly all of Spielberg's films, including the upcoming The BFG.
Williams work is also an unforgettable element of the Star Wars franchise, but as of yet there's been no confirmation as to whether Williams will following up The Force Awakens with a score for Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII (he's sitting out this year's spinoff Rogue One). But the 84-year-old composer told Variety that he'll definitely be eager for the job when the time comes. "If I can do it, I certainly will," Williams said. "I told Kathy Kennedy I'm happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn't want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley."
