Disney has dropped the first teaser trailer for Moana, its animated feature set in the South Pacific, and it seems the company has another hit on its hands. The clip begins with demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), introducing himself and his exploits. Maui is a legendary figure in many cultures in the Pacific, sharing characteristics with heroes from Greek mythology like Hercules and Prometheus. As Johnson explains, Maui used his magical fish-hook to slow down the Sun and pull up islands from the ocean's floor. But Moana, the film's main character, is unimpressed.

Moana is being directed as the first primarily computer-animated film from Ron Clements and John Musker, the duo previously responsible for The Little Mermaid and Hercules. Auli'i Cravalho will be voicing Moana, and the film's musical score includes tracks from Opetaia Foaʻi and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. (Who yesterday won the Tony Award for Best Score of a Musical.) With all that talent onboard, Moana seems more than ready to set sail.
