Twitter will partner with CBS News to stream coverage of the Republican and Democratic national conventions, the two organizations announced today.
The latest in Twitter's live video efforts
CBS News's digital streaming service, CBSN, will provide the coverage, which will stream live on Twitter each day of the conventions. The organizations said the coverage would also be "enhanced" with convention-related tweets. "Twitter is the fastest way to find out what’s happening in politics and to have a discussion about it," Anthony Noto, Twitter’s chief financial officer, said in a statement.
Twitter has shown an eagerness recently to improve how its users watch live events. The company outbid competitors for a major NFL streaming deal, and last week, gave users a first look at its plans for live sports, when it streamed live from Wimbledon.
The Democratic convention is set for July 25th through 28th in Philadelphia. The Republican convention — one that will be watched especially closely, as anti-Trump efforts move forward — is scheduled for July 18th to 21st in Cleveland.
