BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg knows a few things about self-aware animation featuring Will Arnett, and he'll be putting those skills to good use working on the sequel to The Lego Movie. Variety reports that Bob-Waksberg will be tackling a rewrite of the film, taking over from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The duo wrote the original draft of the film — they wrote and directed the 2014 original — but with Lord and Miller currently in pre-production on the untitled Star Wars Han Solo spin-off, Warner Bros. decided to bring in some fresh blood. The studio recently pushed the release of The Lego Movie sequel back a year.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg himself is getting ready for the release of the third season of BoJack Horseman, which will be debuting on Netflix on July 22nd. Judging from the latest trailers, the new season will see BoJack enjoying (and struggling) with life as a full-fledged movie star, complete with an Oscar nomination. Knowing Bob-Waksberg's interest in plumbing the range of human emotions with his characters, it seems unlikely that BoJack will end up at the top of the world — but that's often when BoJack Horseman is at its very best. Audiences will get to see what the writer can bring to the world of The Lego Movie when the sequel arrives in theaters on February 8th, 2019.
