Amazon is trying to revamp novelist Tom Clancy's classic Jack Ryan character. The company just greenlit a 10-episode series based on the fictional CIA agent, starring John Krasinski as the lead role. Krasinski was cast this past spring when the show had a series commitment from Amazon, but had not yet been greenlit.

Krasinski will play Ryan, an ex-military CIA agent who intercepts a terrorist communication while out on a field assignment, Variety reports. Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes studio will executive produce alongside Skydance Media and Paramount TV. There have already been five films based on Clancy's character, but this will be the first TV series. Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine have all previously played the title character, to varying degrees of success.

There's no word yet on when the series will premiere.
