You might be wondering just how JD Fenix — the new star of the Gears of War series — and friends will be able to take on the violent hordes of locust aliens they'll come up against in the latest game. They have lots of guns, sure, but is that enough? Thankfully, Gears of War 4's newest trailer provides the answer: huge, lumbering mechs.
The new Gears isn't the first in the series to include mech suits (that honor goes to 2011's Gears of War 3), but these look like they might be the most fun yet, especially considering the scale of some of the new monsters. At one point it looks like a mech is holding a piece of an airplane to use as a weapon.
Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't provide much else in the way of revelations. Despite being dubbed a "gameplay launch trailer," it features little gameplay, instead focusing on the melodrama that has become a Gears trailer staple. (If you want some gameplay, be sure to check out this lengthy look at the game's single-player campaign from E3.)
Gears of War 4 will be launching on PC and Xbox One on October 11th.
