The first full trailer for JK Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is here. It's only about 10 seconds longer than the longest teaser trailer, but gives up a lot more about the film's plot, which focuses on a power struggle within the highly secretive American wizarding community.
The debate seems to be over whether American wizards should expose themselves to "no-majes" (non-magic people), flying in the face of an extremist organization called the New Salem Philanthropic Society. Someone suggests that this might instigate a war! It's all very dramatic, but looks beautiful. Plus, that familiar Harry Potter score is back — if you're susceptible to crippling nostalgia it might not be safe for work.
Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, an expert on magical animals like this lil guy:
Colin Ferrell, Inherent Vice's Katherine Waterson, and Secrets and Lies' Dan Fogler will also star. Rowling is making her screenwriting debut in adapting her own 2001 novel of the same name. The film hits theaters November 18th and will be the first in a trilogy about Scamander.
