As one of the biggest games of the year, Destiny 2 was a notable absentee from the list of titles enhanced for the new Xbox One X, but Bungie has broken its silence on the matter. The game will support 4K and HDR on Microsoft's new console with an update on December 5th — the same day that Destiny 2's first expansion, Curse of Osiris, is set for release.
The PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro will also get HDR support with the update. The PS4 Pro already supports 4K through a mixture of dynamic resolution and checkerboard rendering, but Bungie's wording in the announcement suggests the Xbox One X may run the game at native 4K. On the other hand, it might mean that the One X uses checkerboarding but always stays at the highest resolution.
The PC version already supports HDR, and of course you can run it at pretty much whatever resolution you like. HDR PC monitors are only just beginning to be a thing, but it's a useful option for those who hook their rig up to a TV.
