The new year is just around the corner, and that means a whole new slate of movies and TV shows to watch on your streaming service of choice will soon be on their way. Netflix will be kicking the new year off in a big way, and it comes down to four words: Tim Burton’s original Batman.

Okay, that might not be a huge slam dunk for everyone else, but I’m certainly excited about it. The service will also be adding a wide selection of new original movies, like Mike Flanagan’s thriller Before I Wake (January 5th), the Jack Black indie comedy The Polka King (January 12th), and A Futile and Stupid Gesture, the Will Forte comedy about the origins of National Lampoon (arriving on January 26th, shortly after its premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival). There’s plenty coming on the television side, as well, with the fourth season of Grace and Frankie arriving on January 19th, the second season of the rebooted One Day at a Time debuting on January 26th, and the anime series Devilman Crybaby coming on January 5th.

That said, it’s not all good news. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be leaving the service on January 1st, along with Forrest Gump and Free Willy. (Note: not all films leaving the service are created equal.) Even more devastating is the loss of all six seasons of Lost. That’s right: If you want to watch the entire journey on Netflix you only have until January 4th before you’ll be forced to go elsewhere. It’ll be a regular purgatory.

Amazon Prime will be doing its best to grab attention with the January 12th premiere of the anthology series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, and on the first of the year customers will be able to watch the tenth season of Doctor Who. A bevy of movies will also be arriving on the service over the course of the month, including Reservoir Dogs, Thelma & Louise, and David Fincher’s Zodiac.

HBO Now, however, may be the biggest winner of them all. In January the service will be adding The Fate of the Furious (extended version, of course), David Bowie: The Last Five Years, all three Back to the Future films, and the second season premieres of both Crashing and Divorce. But most importantly, it will be adding all eight Harry Potter movies — and does one really need anything more than that? The complete list of all titles is below.
