Verizon Fios has for the first time integrated Netflix into its set-top boxes, according to a Netflix customer support page first spotted this week by industry blog FierceCable. The addition, which is supported by models IPC1100P2, IPC1100P1, and the VMS1100 DVR set-top box, means Fios customers now have native access to the streaming TV service from directly within the cable interface, obviating the need to use a smart TV’s built-in app with a different remote, or to have a streaming TV stick plugged in.

Verizon isn’t the first cable provider to do this. Comcast and Dish have integrated Netflix into cable boxes before, with Comcast most recently working with Netflix to add 4K streaming to its Xfinity X1 set-top box. It appears Verizon is running a trial of the service and hasn’t filly committed to a public launch of its Netflix integration, as the company told FierceCable, “Yes, we are currently testing new advanced TV features with a select group of employees and customers.” But it’s at least a step in the right direction for Verizon to at last bring Netflix support to one of most traditional pieces of living room technology.
