Campo Santo, the studio behind hit indie adventure Firewatch, unveiled its next game In the Valley of Gods at The Game Awards with a first look trailer.
There’s not much information about In the Valley of Gods yet — Campo Santo is describing it as a “single-player first-person adventure,” where players will step into the shoes of Rashida, a “disgraced former explorer and filmmaker” exploring an ancient valley in the Egyptian desert during the 1920s to search for treasure and fame. And if it’s anything like Firewatch, expect it to be a hugely story driven affair, although In the Valley of Gods already advances ahead of the company’s first game by featuring a second character named Zora, Rashida’s former partner who apparently has some bad blood with Rashida.
Out in 2019
One thing is for certain: the game looks incredible, with Campo Santo looking to out do the already impressive visuals from Firewatch in its next tile.
In the Valley of Gods is set to come out in 2019 on Steam (no other platforms have been announced yet) so it’ll still be some time before players will get to explore the desert, but it looks like it’ll be worth the wait.
Update December 7th, 10:02pm: Added additional details about the game.
