Cameras began rolling for Marvel’s upcoming ensemble film Avengers: Infinity War back in January. To commemorate the occasion, the company has released a production trailer featuring interviews with some of the crew and cast of the ensemble flick.

The trailer gives us our first glimpse of what to expect from the film, and opens with a brief explanation of the Infinity Stones, which have been featured in a number of the preceding Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The clip also gives us a taste for the film’s characters by showing off Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), and Chris Pratt (Star Lord) on the same stage together, bringing together the cinematic universe’s larger ensemble of characters into the same film.

the film will bring together the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

There’s also a brief explanation for what the film will be about: Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, explains that “Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with Iron Man 1,” and that the heroes will face Thanos, something that has been building since the first Avengers film. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, the Avengers have been split, and the world is vulnerable, Anthony and Joe Russo, the film’s directors explain: and Tony Stark “senses a this greater threat approaching,” Joe Russo notes, “and so he is doing everything in his power to keep the Earth safe.”

Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to be released on May 4th, 2018.
