Futurama the TV show has the distinction of being cancelled twice, but Matt Groening’s far-future sci-fi cartoon is finding a new home on smartphone and tablet. Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is another mobile game set in the 31st century, developed by TinyCo, to be released on iOS, Android, and Amazon’s Appstore.

TinyCo’s turning into something of a cartoon adaptation specialist: the company also developed mobile game Family Guy: Quest for Stuff, as well as Marvel: Avengers Academy. There’s no set release date for the game yet, and no details of exactly how it will play, but if TinyCo’s previous output is anything to go on, it’ll likely be a freemium title that lets players pay real money to unlock more sci-fi toys.

It might not be another full series, but Futurama fans will be most pleased to hear that Worlds of Tomorrow will feature work from Groening himself, as well as other members of Futurama’s production and writing teams. "We’ve got completely new stories from the original writers, cast, and animators,” show executive producer David X. Cohen says. “This is the real Futurama deal."
