Get ready for more magic on the Syfy Channel next year: the network announced today that it has renewed its fantasy show The Magicians for a third, 13-episode season.
Based on Lev Grossman’s fantasy trilogy, The Magicians follows Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) and his friends at Brakebills, a magical university in upstate New York. In the show’s first season, they discovered that Fillory, a fantasy land that they read about in a series of children’s novels, is real, and that the magic that they’re learning is far darker than they imagined. This season has centered on the young magicians as they live in Fillory and try to defeat a threat that could destroy the entire magical world.
The renewal order comes just a couple of weeks after the network renewed its other series adaptation, The Expanse, for its own third season.
The finale of the The Magician’s second season is slated to air on April 19th, and the third season is expected to air at some point in 2018.
