If there was ever any doubt before, Harley Quinn is absolutely one of the biggest anti-heroes in DC’s stable at the moment. She’s so big that not only is she teaming up with Catwoman and Poison Ivy in the upcoming Gotham City Sirens, but she’s joining forces with Nightwing and Batman himself in the animated Batman & Harley Quinn.
She’s teaming up with Batman and Nightwing this time
The new feature comes from Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm, whose last effort was the abysmal Batman: The Killing Joke. That hasn’t stopped him, though, and the new effort reunites B:TAS alums Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester as Batman and Nightwing. Harley will be played by The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch, who Timm describes as perfect for the part. (Just in case any Arleen Sorkin fans are worried.)
Batman & Harley Quinn will involve Batman and Nightwing turning to Harley when Poison Ivy and the Floronic Man hatch a plan to turn the planet’s animals into plant hybrids. It’s an interesting tactic on the Dark Knight’s part: Harley and Ivy have long had a romantic relationship in the comics. However, that doesn’t mean she’s above flirting with and apparently tickling Nightwing, which should give fans a sense of the movie’s comedic tone:
Batman & Harley Quinn doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’ll be available soon.
