Dating app Hinge is introducing video features to its users today. According to Mashable, Hinge users will be free to add video clips to their profile from Facebook, Instagram, or their phone. The company released a brief video about the feature rollout, including the cheeky pitch that this app needs video “because your life isn’t static.”

Since the rise of Snapchat, social platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp have incorporated video into their services as clips and live-streaming options. But modern dating apps have largely remained behind on this trend. Despite a push from smaller companies to introduce video, the most popular of dating services — apps like Tinder, Happn, or Coffee Meets Bagel — have yet to adopt this trend. Other services, like Bumble, are working to implement video features in the future.

Hinge may be the first of the largest apps to finally launch video features, but it won’t be the last. As Hater creator Brendan Alper told The Verge last month, video will only become more prominent. “Obviously social apps have embraced video, and I think it's inevitable that dating apps will, too,” he said. “The only question is when, not if.”
