“I’m on iTunes and shit”

Like so many of us, Snoop Dogg seems a little put off by having to sign up for Tidal for exclusive albums. The rapper admitted online that he doesn’t use Jay-Z’s premier streaming service, and had to get a pirated copy of the Tidal-exclusive new album 4:44 through a friend.

“Top of the morning,” Snoop says at the start of the video. “I want to shoot a shout-out to Jay-Z, just dropped another motherfucking hot album, 4:44.” (That wasn’t enough 4’s for Snoop, so he added a few more.)

Snoop doesn’t give the same praise to Tidal, though. In fact, he doesn’t really get Jay-Z’s whole exclusivity thing: “Y’all gotta explain that to me. I went to iTunes looking for his album, I couldn’t find it. But my homie sent it to me.”

The Doggfather elaborates: “I don’t got Tidal, so a n**** had to bootleg it to me. I’m on iTunes and shit, cuz.”

There’s something kind of hilarious about a titan of hip-hop and friend of Martha Stewart pirating a hot new album because Tidal doesn’t make any sense to him, even if he loves the music. Had Snoop waited a little bit, he could’ve listened to 4:44 on Apple Music. But Hov, whose net worth is currently $810 million, will probably be fine.
