TikTok is one of the world’s most popular apps, recently surpassing 6 million users last month in the US and landing in the top spot on Apple’s App Store in the United States.

Now, more celebrities are joining the app, which allows people to upload their own videos using a variety of editing tools and filters. Jimmy Fallon and Tony Hawk have both recently joined, using the app to participate in current trends and try to connect with a larger audience.

Fallon’s decision to join should come as no surprise to those who are up to speed with his presence on Instagram — where he often uses Instagram stories to host Live Q&A sessions or post Tonight Show updates — or his presence on YouTube. TikTok is just another platform he can use to engage with his audience. Fallon’s videos have already earned nearly 10 million views since he joined, according to a TikTok press release.

Celebrities joining TikTok is another sign of its continued growth, which is seeing massive user additions. A report from SensorTower, an analyst group that focuses on the mobile market, that was released last month suggests that TikTok has surpassed more than $1 million in revenue in the US in the last month. It has also consistently climbed the rankings in the App Store since late September, according to SensorTower.

Part of the growth comes from Musical.ly, a similar app, rolling into TikTok earlier this year. That increased the number of users browsing and uploading to TikTok on a daily basis. The last few weeks have also seen an increase in popular YouTube creators talking about the app, multiple news organizations writing about it, and major ad play on platforms like Tinder and Google where people spend quite a bit of time.

SensorReport’s study also suggests that TikTok’s growth won’t slow in the near future. More people are downloading the app, and the majority of reviews in the App Store are positive. TikTok may not be the new Vine, but it’s certainly not going anywhere anytime soon, especially with more than 500 million global users across 150 countries.
