Amazon has ordered its first animated series: a dramedy from BoJack Horseman’s creator, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, and its writer/producer Kate Purdy. According to Amazon, the half-hour series, Undone, is about a woman named Alma who discovers she has a “new relationship with time” after a car accident.
Bob-Waksberg and Purdy will also executive produce, alongside Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen (both executive producers on BoJack), and Tommy Pallotta (A Scanner Darkly). Artist Hisko Hulsing will work with a team of designers in the Netherlands to visualize the story.
The news doesn’t mean Bob-Waksberg and Purdy’s relationship with Netflix is over. Just last month, Netflix ordered another 10-episode animated series from Bob-Waksberg, Bright, and Cohen, called Tuca & Bertie. The comedy, created by BoJack producer Lisa Hanawalt, is about a pair of “30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building,” and it will star Girls Trip’s Tiffany Haddish. Last fall, Netflix renewed BoJack Horseman, its longest-running animated series, for a fifth season.
Undone is set to premiere on Amazon sometime in 2019.
