Netflix is expanding its streaming video reach further into journalism programming with a new series from BuzzFeed called Follow This.
Follow This, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will be a 20-episode, weekly short-form documentary series that will feature a number of BuzzFeed’s journalists reporting on a range of topics. Netflix revealed a clip from the first episode of the upcoming show, following Scaachi Koul as she covers the world of Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) videos. Each episode is expected to be around 15 minutes long.
Netflix has been increasingly focusing on regular, weekly content, ranging from late-night shows such as Chelsea Handler’s Chelsea and Joel McHale’s The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale. The streaming service has also been working on a series of news-oriented shows. Last month, it was reported that Netflix was in the early stages of planning a 60 Minutes-style news program, and former president Barack Obama has been discussing plans for a topical show.
Update April 25th, 12:00PM: A Netflix spokesperson said that reports of its 60 Minutes-style news program are incorrect and were initially falsely reported.
