Summer movie season kicked off early this year with the release of Avengers: Infinity War, but in spite of its history-making performance at the box office, audiences no doubt have an appetite for things other than Marvel superheroes. Fortunately, May will bring a lot of new alternative options to television screens.

Netflix is adding several films and TV shows to its original content lineup, including the zombie movie Cargo on May 18th, the Amanda Seyfried and Clive Owen science fiction film Anon on May 10th, and the fourth season of the comedy series stalwart Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on the 30th. The second season of Dear White People is premiering on May 4th. And for viewers interested in timely comedy programming: former Daily Show correspondent Michelle Wolf, who’s drawn significant admiration and ire for her recent performance at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, will debut her new weekly series The Break on May 27th. Comedian Hari Kondabolu, who helped draw attention to the problematic portrayal of The Simpsons’ Apu in a documentary last year, will also appear on the service on May 8th in his new special, Warn Your Relatives.

Amazon Prime is primarily focused on adding library films and limited miniseries, although the service will premiere a new Rocky and Bullwinkle TV series on May 11th, and Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer stars in the service’s new series adaptation of Picnic at Hanging Rock. That show is scheduled to premiere on May 25th, and movies including A.I. Artificial Intelligence, The Crow, and the original James Bond films featuring Sean Connery and Roger Moore will also arrive on Amazon Prime.

The real thing to get excited about, however, is HBO’s film adaptation of the Ray Bradbury novel Fahrenheit 451. That movie, which debuts on May 19th, stars Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon as “firemen” in a dystopian future where books are banned and they’re tasked with destroying them. And if burning things seems to be a theme of interest, the service is also adding James Cameron’s original Avatar to its lineup on May 1st. If you’re not familiar with Avatar, it’s the heartwarming story of a paraplegic soldier who regains the ability to walk, thanks to the wonders of futuristic technology — all at the expense of an entire co-opted indigenous alien culture whose homes are burned to the ground in the name of capitalism.

As usual, it’s not all good news, as most of the streaming services are losing titles here and there. The attrition isn’t too bad this month, but Netflix users will lose the classic Goodfellas on May 1st, and HBO subscribers will lose the original The Exorcist and M. Night Shyamalan’s Split on May 31st. We’ve included the full list of titles coming to, and leaving, the various services below.
