Two of the Switch’s biggest strengths since its release has been its strong catalogue of indie games and the tremendous versatility of the built-in Joy-Con controllers for local multiplayer. So it makes sense that at E3, Nintendo would announce two new indie games with a focus on local multiplayer: Overcooked 2 and Killer Queen Black.

Overcooked 2 is the sequel to the Overcooked, Team17’s popular and chaotic kitchen simulator where you work with (or against) your friends as you try to prepare meals for your hungry guests without your entire kitchen bursting into flames. Overcooked 2 expands on that, adding new features like the ability to throw ingredients, and new stages that will shift and transform over the course of a level. It’ll be out on August 7th, with support for both local co-op and online play.

Killer Queen Black is a console port of the hit multiplayer arcade game that’s been redesigned from the ground up specifically for the Switch. Players will be able to band together in two teams of up to four (for a total of eight players, instead of the arcade version’s 10), as they attempt to outmaneuver the other team with strategy and quick-thinking to achieve victory. Given that the original Killer Queen was designed to give each player only one button and one joystick, it’s easy to see how it would be a perfect fit for the more limited (but easier to play with multiple people) single Joy-Con halves on the Switch. Killer Queen Black will be out later in 2018.
