The first episode of Life is Strange 2, the follow-up to Dontnod Entertainment’s breakout success in 2015, will launch on September 27th. The developer announced the news today with a threadbare teaser that still tells us absolutely nothing about the game.
Although the sequel has been a work in progress for some time, Dontnod has been quiet about the new game. It’s teased a brand-new cast for years, casting the series as a sort of anthology. The original Life is Strange told the story of Max, a teenager with the power to rewind time, and her rebellious friend Chloe. The game was applauded for covering serious topics like online harassment and teenage suicide over the course of its five-episode run. Last year, Square Enix and developer Deck Nine released a prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, starring Chloe.
At E3 2018, Dontnod announced a new, free experience called The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. The game takes place three years after Max and Chloe’s story and stars a 10-year-old boy named Chris. It launches on June 26th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Dontnod has said that game will provide clues about Life is Strange 2. For now, it looks like that’s the closest we’ll get to finding answers.
