Okay so there’s been a lot of discussion around Star Wars and where Disney are taking it - especially with Solo appearing to "flop". I’ve not enjoyed the last two episode movies and I’ve been trying to put my finger on why; so I decided to go back and rewatch the lot!

My conclusion is... Star Wars needs Jedi! The fun, enjoyable aspects of all the first 6 revolve around the Jedi, the Sith, the Force and lightsabers. The movies need the colour and sound of lightsabers, etc. I’d also add to this the worlds, and people, and diversity.

Now let me be clear, I’m not saying sacrifice story for CGI. The movies should be grounded on strong story lines. Just they should be elevated with the Force and all that comes from it. I’m also only talking about the main episodes; I think spinoffs like Rouge One work great.

To compare it to MCU and Avengers - we enjoy watching them because of all the Superheroes and their powers. The films have a good underlying story, that’s made great when Iron Man’s new suit pulls off a new trick, etc. Imagine the next Avengers is just them all dead and it’s some humans running away from Thanos for 2 hours... no thanks.

Lets get away from the Dark Knight somber style. Let’s get the Jedi back. Let’s get the crazy, diverse worlds back. Let’s get the fun back!
