After more than six years of episodic storytelling, Telltale’s The Walking Dead video game is rapidly approaching its final season. The first episode is set to launch on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on August 14th, and a Nintendo Switch release is also planned for later this year.

Season 4 explores the final chapter for Clementine, who’s grown from a child into a capable adult (and protagonist) over the span of the series. “After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be her chance for a home,” the game’s description reads. “But protecting it will mean sacrifice. Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left.”

The final season of The Walking Dead marks the end of a long and strenuous era in Telltale history. Following the critical success of the game’s first season, the company had growing pains around rapid growth, continuous crunch, and toxic culture culminating in studio layoffs just a few years later. Telltale is currently pursuing new projects, though it has yet to announce what those ventures will be.
