For the past four years, Samsung’s smartwatches have been branded under the “Gear” name, but this year, it looks like the company will be opting to rebrand under the “Galaxy” line. Since 2015, the operating system for Gear watches has been Tizen, and it doesn’t look like this change in name will mean a switch to Android’s Wear OS.

SamMobile reported today that the company’s upcoming wearable, the Galaxy Watch, will run the latest version of Tizen OS. Rumors surrounded the change in name, as all of Samsung’s Galaxy products run Android operating systems, and that could potentially mean that the smartwatch would follow suit. This doesn’t appear to be the case.

The latest version of Samsung’s wearable OS, Tizen 4.0, will reportedly run on the device out of the box along with the company’s Bixby smart assistant. Samsung typically announces its smartwatches in August, so we shouldn’t have to wait much longer to find out the rest of the details.
