Last month, Line Friends announced it was partnering with DJI to create a Brown Bear-themed drone, and now it’s teamed up with Bang & Olufsen for a Brown-Bear themed speaker.
Line is a chat app that’s hugely popular in several Asian regions, with tens of thousands of sticker sets, many of which feature original characters. These characters have become so popular that there’s a separate Line Friends merchandise line sold in 108 countries, and a flagship store for the merch in New York’s Times Square. Brown Bear is a stoic-faced bear that’s one of Line Friends’ more popular original characters.
The speaker is essentially the Beoplay P2 with some cosmetic changes. A Bluetooth speaker, the Beoplay P2 has a streamlined design with no buttons; things like volume and skipping tracks are controlled through taps and shakes instead. This limited edition version of the Beoplay P2 will, naturally, be brown and have a Brown Bear charm attached to it.
Only 5,000 units of the Beoplay P2 Brown Limited Edition will be made, and it will be available to purchase starting on October 4th in Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the US though Line’s website and some retail outlets. Bang & Olufsen has not yet announced a price, but the regular P2 sells for $169.
