Hey all, new guy to this forum. I have not done the forum thing since the lates 00’s. However, I was looking for some insight on the subject of iOS & Android.
For the record I was using Palm Treo’s and Blackberry’s before the introduction of the original iPhone. Since then it’s been Apple ever since. I am firmly held hostage in the "ecosystem" that many have come to love. I have a iPad Pro, an iMac, Apple Watch series 4, AirPods & a Xs Max.
As of late I have become very bored with Apples phones. I feel they are lacking the inspiration and innovation that made them popular to begin with. So with that being said, I found myself intrigued by the new Galaxy series. I was toying around with the idea of switching. I preordered an S10+ which arrived today. I have yet to open the box Because I’m not entirely sure I’m going to keep it. Wanted to make sure I secured the promotional Galaxy buds.
I was trying to figure out if there was a way to use both iOS and Android together in harmony without having to use two separate phone numbers.
The only thing I could think of was to use the S10 with my sim, unregister my phone number with iMessage and use an iPad mini with cellular while allowing my email address to be the point of contact for the iPad/iCloud. This way I can get the Android experience on the phone and still not completely lose iOS. I could in theory still use iMessage with all of my Apple contacts. The only downside I can foresee is my Apple Watch would be rendered useless.
This may be a dumb problem or idea. But I would really love to hear any constructive thoughts or advice on the idea. Thanks all.
