Flickr is adding a new feature to its website today: the ability to order prints of the photos you’ve posted there, directly from the site.

The new options include metal and canvas art prints, 4 x 6 paper prints to send out to relatives, and photo books (printed in partnership with Blurb and Chatbooks). You’ll only be able to print out your own photos — meaning that you won’t be able to buy prints from another photographer, or use Flickr as an ad-hoc storefront to sell prints of your own work to others.

The option to order prints will be pretty prominent on the site: there’s a new “Prints” tab at the top of every page, and each image will also have a direct link to order a print of it when you’re viewing it online.

The new feature is being touted as a benefit of the photo site’s new stewardship from SmugMug, which bought Flickr back in 2018 and already offers similar features for ordering prints for its more professional skewing services. But by adding print ordering to Flickr, the company is clearly hoping that it’ll be able to expand those options to a wider range of customers going forward.
