Microsoft and the FTC’s first pre-trial hearing will take place on January 3rd.

This is the first step in what could be a long legal battle over Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. While FTC sued to block the deal last month, Microsoft has attempted to assuage concerns by making a number of concessions, including committing to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation.

Microsoft also proposed a 10-year agreement that would make new Call of Duty games available on PlayStation the same day they launch on Xbox, and struck a similar 10-year agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo’s consoles if the merger gets approved.
